ABOUT ABOUT

The Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE) is currently seeking volunteers for the 17th annual Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards! Dubbed the “Oscars of Business,” the Spirit Awards program recognizes entrepreneurs and their hard work within the Inland Empire community. Proceeds from the gala go on to fund the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Scholarship, dedicated to supporting the future generation of entrepreneurial spirit, you the student! Help support and recognize the finest entrepreneurs in the IE by volunteering today!

Volunteer Tasks Include: There are various volunteer opportunities available throughout the fall quarter. Volunteering for the Garner Holt Student fast Pitch competition, putting together thank you gifts for delivery on campus, loading show materials and roadie boxes into a moving van, etc. November 13th is the night of the Spirit Gala: a large number of volunteers will be needed during the hours of 3pm-10pm in black-tie attire. SHOWDATE roles include production assistant, guest check-ins, award security, greeters, VIP navigators, stage hands, etc. Those volunteering to help in the production of the show must come black-tie ready! At the end of the night during the VIP After-Party, volunteers will be needed for event break down and packing. Come and be apart of a big show production and learn what it takes to produce a black-tie awards event!

Note: after registering, within two days, you will be contacted via email for further instructions.

Note to INSTRUCTORS & CLUBS: This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get involved at CSUSB, earn extra credit, or earn volunteer service hours for clubs.  We can easily provide proof of fulfillment of hours for those who require it. We appreciate any individuals you send our way.

The volunteering dates will be as follows:

  • On Tuesday, Nov. 12th, is Spirit Moving Day! From 11am-4pm, we will be packing up all Spirit related items into a moving truck at CSUSB in Jack H. Brown Hall 281 and transporting to Riverside Convention Center to be unloaded and setup. Loading starts around 11am at CSUSB, from there we will meet Stacey in Riverside by 1:45pm to unload the truck and setup. Currently, we will require some guys to help with heavy lifting. The more volunteers we have for this day, the less time it will take for setup the following day.
  • On Wednesday, Nov. 13th, from 9:30am-3pm, we will be at Riverside Convention Center finishing the final preparations and setup from the event. Please do not come dressed in your Black-tie attire, it will get dirty, but please bring them with you. You may have to get dressed in the bathrooms at the center, we do apologize for the inconvenience.
  • On Wednesday, Nov. 13th, from 5pm-11pm is the Spirit Awards. Guests may be arriving as early as 4pm, so please be dressed and ready to go by 3:15 pm so we may instruct you on your individual roles at 3:30pm.  Several volunteers will be checking in attendees on their phones via the app Easy Entry by SimpleTix. We will have charging stations for your phone but please bring power banks just in case. Main room doors open at 5:50pm, volunteers will be opening these on cue. The show ends at 8:45pm, once the show is over, volunteers will be picking up and putting away show centerpieces, taking down banners, collecting reception centerpieces and etc. Some volunteers may be assisting with the VIP After-party. Depending on the number of volunteers, clean up can take 1-2 hours. The VIP After-Party will be ending by 10:30pm. If you have any questions before the event on your business black-tie attire, please do not hesitate to call me! Please let me know ahead of time if you are leaving early during the show!
  • On Friday, Nov. 14th, from 10am-2pm, we will be at Riverside Convention Center loading up the truck and unloading at CSUSB behind Jack H. Brown around 12pm. This is a lifting job that requires just a few more volunteers.

For those looking to get involved, please contact Rose Bence with any questions or concerns at [email protected].
